I finished the quilting on this quilt of Wednesday.... now need to get the binding made and attached and hand sewn down.  The get it back to my client. I think she will be very happy with it.

I am home again after spending a great few days with quilt friends in Mesquite, NV.  We had our annual quilting retreat.  Everyone had a great time. It is so neat to be apart of such a wonderful group.
I think the retreat will be held back at Zion national park next year. There are a lot of ladies that really want it there. I am happy with any where they decide. We just have a great time. One of the friendship groups I belong to were in charge of it this year. The ladies worked really hard and it showed!
I got a bit of laundry done and was going to quilt, but decided to write a few thank you notes to some of the vendors that donated door prizes for the retreat. I need to get them done by the end of the week.  Quilters are the best!

Mother Superior's quilt.....

Well another week has rushed by. It has been a very productive week for me and I am very happy about that.  I finished the quilting on Heather Purcell's quilt. We used Superior's monopoly on the top and  a gray bottom line (#623 sliver) in the bottom.  She says it is the color she uses with monopoly always. It did match great. I will use it again. I have not used bottom line before. I usually use sew fine in my bobbins. I really liked the way the bottom line sewed in my Innova and I did not use a full 5 bobbins for this 81 x 81 inch quilt.

I had a great day with the Painted Hill Fiber Artists group today. We had our monthly meeting. Rosie hosted us. We had a great time talking and laughing and enjoyed a great lunch.

Sat March 15, 2014

Another weeks has come and gone. Where in the world does the time go to? This month is so busy for me. I  don't like wishing my life away, but I will be glad when this month is over. It ends with the quilt guilds retreat.  I have gotten a lot done this week, but have a ton more to do.
I had a great afternoon yesterday. I spent it with my wonderful friend, fellow fiber artist and long arm quilter, Cathie Purdy. She helped me assemble bags we are going to put our goodies in for the Dixie Quilt Guild's retreat. I am in charge of getting donations for the door prizes. I have been amazed at the generosity of the business I have asked for donations. Most have given us something and a lot of them have given us way more than I have expected. I don't have a total list comprised, but when I do I will post it. There have been 3 or so that were extremely generous. I mean to the tune of 80 books from one, 80 patterns from another. Most gave 7-10 gifts each. I just have been really blown away by all of them! I will post a list after our retreat.
The web site for the fiber art group I belong to us up and running. Rosemary Hargrove's (a PHFA member) daughter, Emily King, has been working to get the site all set up. The add is wwwpaintedhillsfiberartists.com. Emily has done a wonderful job and the site will evolve as time goes on. Check our site out!
It's been a very long day and I am tired so I will say good night. But...... check out our web site!

Nancy Blair's Quilt

I finished Nancy Blair's Quilt this afternoon.  It is a small sampler. We used a poly thread in a tan tone and a cotton batting.  She wanted something different in each block. I did piano keys around the outside. I used stencils and rulers to do the quilting. I am pleased with how it turned out. I think she will be happy with it.

Sat March 8th, 2014

The weather has been so nice here in St. George. I am loving it. I do wish that so many of our plants and trees were not dead. I don't think any of our plan trees will make it. I don't know about the oleanders either. So far, driving around, I have not seen anyone removing theirs .. so maybe  they will come out.

We had our monthly quilt guild meeting today. We had a heat turn out.  Annie Unrein was our speaker. She is a member of our guild. We are so very blessed with so many talented and truly nice people here in this area. Quilter's are the best! Annie showed us a bunch of her patterns along with the finished products. There were more than one of her pattern I really love and just haven't had time to make any, but plan to. I really love her soft and stable foam lining. It is 100% better than headliner.
She showed us her new zippers, they are pretty cool too.  Her web site is www.byannie.com. If you haven't checked her out do!

The Dixie Quilt Guild's retreat is just around the corner, March 27-29th.  I have gotten a lot of gifts for door prizes from different vendors. I have been amazed at their generosity! Cathie Purdy and I will be making bags for prizes next week.

This has been the first night in a long while that my husband has been able to take one of his telescopes out to view and photo the stars.

Tomorrow is our youngest daughter's Birthday. She was a wonderful child and has grown into a wonderful, smart and beautiful young woman. I am so very proud of her. I just can't believe time has gone by so very quickly!

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Sunday March 2

Today started out nice and sunny. The afternoon became more cloudy as the day progressed and it got chilly.
I finished this t-shirt quilt for a new client,  Bev Nelson. The square spiral pantograph is my favorite design. It looks good on everything where texture is needed. I almost always use it on t-shirt quilts.

Cathie Purdy came over and we decided what we were going to for goodie bags for our quilt guild retreat. They are going to be fun.
I need to get the list made of business that have made donations for door prizes to be given out at the retreat.
The ladies in our friendship group have worked out hard on this retreat and it is going to be great.
I was brought the guild's opportunity quilt a couple days ago. It is going to be great. The ladies decided to do something not south western this time. I was kind of worried how it was going to come out... some of the blocks did not seem to go together very well. But Lael and the ladies did a wonderful job. It has more of a modern look.

Sat March 1

I finished this quilt for a client.  It is a top her Mother made. I think she will be happy with it even if I am not. The top was not pieced really well. I usually use a puffy batt when there is a lot of excess fabric. The client wanted warm and natural type batting. I used a 70/30.
