I got this customer quilt finished... charged 3 1/2 cents per sq inch. I spent aprox 45 hours on it.... so worked for $5.50 an hour. I am very happy with the outcome and think she will be too. I am going to have to get a lot faster or start charging more though.
Now it is time to fix dinner....... I need to go to the store and get some potatoes....

Latest client quilt

I have just about finished this quilt for my client Dawn S. I will post a better, more complete photo when the piece is finished. I still have work to do in the geese and the water on the bottom of the quilt.  I must figure out how to shrink the pixels when I down load my photos to the computer. I don't know why the program does not work on this computer as it did on my old one, but it does not. When I export, I have the program set to make it the smallest file it can and it does not seem to actually be doing that. The quilting is hard to see on the front. I should be able to get a better photo once I am able to remove the piece from my long arm.......

Friday June 19th

Today it is sunny, hot and humid here in St. George. I am thankful to have a great air-conditioner!

I finished Linda Sidlow's cute embroidery monkey quilt.... so cute! I have a lot to accomplish today so I guess I ought to get myself in gear and get going!

Another weekend is half gone! I did get a lot accomplished today though. I finished this client's quilt. I have been doing one of these old quilt tops for her each month. This is the 4th. These blocks were made by her mother and are made from feed/flour sacks. I am happy with how it turned out. I did put a lot of thread down on this one. It had issues and I felt the small loops made it look nice.

It has been a busy week so far... I finished this clients quilt today. She brought it to me Monday afternoon and wanted the large (22 inch) borders added.  The client chose Superior Thread Sew Fine variegated thread. I was afraid the thread was going to be to light. It turned out pretty good. I think she will be happy. She needed it done by Thursday. I got it done.... got the binding cut, sewn and prepared. I sewed the binding down with my domestic machine and it is all ready for the client to do the hand sewing of the binding.

4th of July....

Candice and I went to Scrap Apple's 4th of July sale today. We picked up some material for her to make a quilt for a couple of friends that are getting married. Now she has to do it make the blocks and assemble the quilt.
I got the bindings sewn on both of these quilts.... and hopefully with have them on their way to the owner by the first of next week...

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July.... we are just going to stay home. It's hot and windy.

Happy Forth of July!

June sure got by me fast! I have been pretty busy. I don't have quilts waiting to be quilted, but seem to always have one on the frame. That is great!
I finished Kay W. quilt. She picked it up yesterday and was very happy  with it. That makes me feel great. The lady I have been quilting old quilt tops for, picked one up and dropped another off.
I have one side to sew down on a binding on the large customer quilt. I am glad to get these quilts finished.
The Fiber Art class I teach at Scrap Apple was fun yesterday. There were only two students there. Really only one student and Jean J. She does not need my instruction.
I did not take very many photos of Kay's quilt. The fabric is very busy and the quilting is minimal. I used a stencil to do all the blocks. I free handed the small inside border and used a stencil and chalk to quilt the pattern in the purple border. I just did un-even piano keys in the border. Kay chose a Superior Thread Rainbow thread. I feel it worked up very nicely. Just the right amount of quilting.
