Tuesday May 29

We had a quite Memorial Day.... I did not do a bit of quilting. Went to Scrap Apple and purchased some fat quarters and a big of sale fabric. I worked on a tool for the long arm. I haven't seen anything like it anywhere and it is not costly. So, hopefully it will be a good idea and I can sell patterns or the case. I needed a flat surface to mark the tops of my quilts when they are on the frame.  It is so much easier and more accurate if you have a hard surface under the quilt top. I have come up with a idea that works.... I hope to have a step by step photo pattern and a couple made to take to long arm meeting on Sat. I will make sure it is OK with Teryl before I bring it though. As soon as I get the pattern ready and decide what I would charge for the ready made item I will post the info.... it really is pretty cool...
Today is a nice day... I  have cleaned the house pretty good....now time to get quilting.

Memorial Day

It is nice and sunny here in St. George.... I did to much yesterday and feel tired today. Candice is in NY visiting Megan. She has been gone since Thursday. Her dog has just started to miss her. She woke us up a couple times during the night. I think she wanted on the bed....not going to happen. She will probably get used to being with us and not missing her mom so much just in time for Candice to come back from her visit.
I hope to get the quilting finished on Charm's quilt. I have the background filler and all the ditching done. I have done one border and then picked it out... did not like how it looked.  I might just quilt a bit on the art quilt I am working on. There is room on the frame to put it off to one side of Charm's quilt. Maybe focusing on another piece will free my mind up to think about how to finish Charm's quilt. Sometimes my brain works like that.
We have soaked in the hot tub, getting those old joints warmed up. Now I need to get us some breakfast so I can get busy.........

Sunday May 27

It is a beautifully clear day here in St. George.... a bit chilly for the time of year, but very nice. I got the leaves and dirt cleaned up. It has been so windy that the roll up shades I put up to block the view of the 'stuff under the deck stairs' was torn up. I have to figure out how to put something like Lattice or something there.
Dave took his telescope out at 3:30 this morning. Candice's dog (Candice is in NY visiting Megan) came up at 3:30 and wanted out. Dave took them all out. The skies were clear and he usually gets up at 3:30. He decided to just stay up and look at the stars.
I need to quilt a bit.....

Saturday May 26

Windy again......Had another asthma attack last night.... haven't had this problem since we moved from SLC down here to St. George. Hopefully the problem will go away when the wind stops......Dave and I are going to breakfast, then I will get back and go to work on Charm's quilt.
I need to try to get a new photo of myself on the  blog... I took this photo myself, in a mirror to use at a workshop I taught for the quilt guild on portrait quilts.. I really take bad photos...  Most I have of myself, I am making some face or have just closed my eyes...
Guess I ought to get something done..... wishing everyone a good day!

Friday evening May 25

Today has been  soooooooooo windy here in St. George. Kind of hard to breath when there is so much dust in the air.
I got a lot done today.. laundry done etc. .... Annette came and picked up her wall hanging. She was very happy.  I got a lot of the ditching done on Charm's quilt... going to work more on it when Dave goes to bed. My machine is louder than it was before it developed it clunk...went to the shop and John fixed it. It sews so beautifully, but is just louder... must be the new parts that were put in it.
Candice made it to NY yesterday evening. She and Meg were going to the MOMA today. That I would like to see... I wouldn't mind see my youngest daughter either!
I fixed dinner, did the few dishes  and then watched the movie entitled 'Red Tails' with Dave. It is a really good movie. Well worth my time!
I did not order bountiful baskets this week, so I don't have to get up early tomorrow. That is really a good program. Nice produce for very little money. I did not think I would be cooking enough next week to warrant purchasing it this week.
Now... time to get back to work....

Some of my own quilts......

Customer quilts from the past few years.....

Rosemary's quilt... finished yesterday...

I have designed this wall hanging & have a pattern for it.

Annette's lone star

more customer's projects.

More customer quilts I have quilted in the past few months.

Candice, my oldest daughter, made her first quilt for a friend. I thought it turned out so cute! She used my embroidery machine to to the machine applique' and I quilted it for her.

Dorene's quilt

Customer's Judie and Larry. Larry designs the quilts and Judie pieces them. I was so honored to be asked to quilt this. The quilt top has many different types of fabric from silk to suede.

I haven't posted anything on my blog for a very long time... I had been working at Let' Quilt here in St. George Utah. I have quite that job and am quilting full time now. I plan on keeping my blog up to date.
I have started the process of a business licence here in Utah. I have gone from just doing a few quilts for friends and the shop to being very busy. The only bad thing about being totally legal is now I have to charge sales tax and here in Utah, we have to charge tax on not only the products we sell, but on the quilting we do. I did not think we had to charge for 'service' but here quilting is not considered a 'service'. We have altered a product, thus creating a new product. So... as soon as I get my tax ID number and my business Glad Rags Art is official.... I will start charging sales tax...
