I finished a quilt for Carol M. With the week I have had it is a major accomplishment. We have had quite a week. We had a flash flood her is St. George, Utah.  My studio floor was flooded. Thankfully nothing much was damaged. Just a sketch book that had some old sketches, pencil and ink. None of my machine were damaged and no quilts or back were either. I was very thankful. The water did come in our sliding doors. Red mud is not that easy to get out of anything!  We needed something new done on the floor anyway. I had put a stick down tile on my studio floor and it has weather water on it a few time. I am thinking I will remove the old carpet and lay stick down tile that looks like wood. I found some nice looking samples at Home Depot. Just don't know when I will get the time! We moved the treadmill out of the room and it  made the space so much lighter. Removing the big thing made the space look a lot larger also. I still haven't cleaned up all the mud from our cement. The entire area was under muddy water. I was so thankful for our neighbors. Candice and I were in my studio and I notice there was water coming in under one of the walls. I was not to concerned until the neighbor behind us rang the door bell and said she we were getting flooded. My husband had just left on a call to the hospital. So...... I got my sump pump out, the hose broke off. I could not put the piece that was left behind off. I finally got it cut off and then could not get the hose clamp to hold the hose in place. It was raining so hard and there was a lot of lightening. I was standing in water up to my ankles and 3 neighbors were helping. I finally got the hose to stay on and started pumping water off from the patios up to the street. Once the sump had done it's work there, I put it the pond. When Dave got back from his call out, things were kind of under control. I got the pond cleaned out and running again. The birds are happy and I hope I don't see any more muddy water for a very long time, at least not in my back yard or basement! We still have a lot more to clean up. But the carpet is dry and does not smell. That is a very good thing.
I was able to finish Carol's quilt today. I used Isacord on the top and Superior Threads  sew fine in the bobbin (http://superiorthreads.com). The batting was a 70/30. I think it quilted up very nicely.

Janey Argyle and I went to Springville  to meet with the director of the museum there. We were looking at the space and were suppose to sign a contract for a future show of our 'Photo to Fabric' show to be shown Sept 2015. We PHFA members  (the Painted Hills Fibers Artists) are excited to have our work shown there. I was pleased with the location of my  piece I call 'Reflections', but was very shocked to see that it had been stapled to the wall! Needless to say I was not happy with that. I have two pieces in the current show and both have been stapled to the wall.

I finished this quilt for Lael Lovel. I thought it turned out nice. We decided to just do a pantograph on this one since it was so very busy. Lael is a wonderful piecer. I love to quilt her quilts!

Antia's latest master peace.

I finished a beautifully pieced quilt for Antia Bingham. I love the color she choose. This one was a joy to quilt.
I am going to get busy on my next landscape quilt. It is ready to put on the frame. Another art quilt design is floating around in my head.

Amy's Teddy bear quilt

I got this baby quilt done for my niece. I had piece the top years ago. The piecing job is not very good even though I used Thangles!  I drew the teddy bear out on some light weight interfacing and sewed the pieced of the teddy bear, turn them and then appliquéd them in place with the sewing mating. It was so thick and the fuzzy blanket material kept slipping out from under my hopping foot.  The Teddy's legs could be a bit fatter, but I still think it is cute. I used a 9 oz poly batting, Sew fine in the bobbin and permacore thread in the top. I sewed the binding on with the sewing machine, turning it from the back to the front and top stitching with my Janome. We purchased a twin size throw from cost-co for the backing.

I finished a couple of table runner for a friend and client too, but neglected to take photos. It has been a very busy week and it is not over. But I am not complaining. I would rather be busy than not!
Now we are going to watch the a new series called outlander......

Rosie and Gayle's quilts

I am back in St. George, working away. I did have a wonderful few days with friends up on the LaSal Mts. at a lodge called Wispering Oaks. It is a wonderful place to stay. We go their yearly with high school friends. This year there were 16 of us. The number that attend changes from year to year. There are a few of us that have made it almost every year for a while.  I did not take any photos at the lodge this year. Dave and I took a ride up the Sandflats Road. I love this country. I don't think there is any where on earth as beautiful as the Moab area.
This beautiful sunset was taken from patio of friend's home in Moab. We always stay in 'our bedroom' at Kerry and Lorrie Lange's home. They always make us fell so welcome.
Crystal Day purchased my new wall hanging pattern. She is currently sell all three of my patterns.
I finished this small piece for Gayle before we left for our short vacation.

Rosie Hargrove picked up her quilt this morning. I got it finished over the weekend. It turned out really great. She was very happy with it. It was large 115x96. One of her daughters made it for the other daughter. Rosie, picked out the quilting and bought a new backing for it. We used wool batting, which I love, Permacore in the top and sew fine in the bobbin.

It has been a very long day.....so until next time. Happy Quilting!
