Anita's quilt

I got Anita Bingham's quilt finished this afternoon. It looks very nice on the top. Dark thread on light backing is not that great. But I did my best.

I got my hair colored and cut this morning. I was expecting to have a working fridge this afternoon. Sears service center cancelled our appointment that was scheduled for this afternoon between 1-5. We have been with out the fridge since the 13th. Have had 2 service calls and still don't have a fridge. After this experience we will not purchase an appliance from Sears and certainly will not purchase any LG appliance! The compressor has gone out and it was purchased in 08. Thankfully we still have the old Amana out in the garage.  They can't even schedule us for tomorrow... it will be Thursday between 8-12! Customer service is a thing of the past it seems.
I hopefully have customers that feel they have gotten great service!

I got Bridget Luckau's quilt finished. It was 98x96 inches. I quilted this one heavy custom, but tried to focus on her wonderful piecing and not make the quilting a big thing. I think I accomplished that. I am sure she will be happy with it. She will pick it up tonight at the quilt guild's pot luck dinner. This one took me longer than it needed to (about a day and a half longer) because of tensions issues. I had a problem with one color of glide thread. I was using sew fine in the bobbin (that is what I normally do and love the results). I had 4 thread changes in this one.

I have been waiting for the Sears repair man to come and put the compressing in our fridge. The fridge is an LG and was purchased in 08..... Thankfully I did not get rid of the old Amana... it is running like a champ in the garage! The service was scheduled for between 8-12 and they are running behind (said the computer phone call). I hope they get here pretty soon this afternoon though. I have errands I need to do... was going to get my hair colored and cut.. that is out of the question now. I hope the young gal that does my hair is working tomorrow. If not, it will wait until next week. I need to decide if I am going to keep this blond hair or go back to my natural black/brown.
I am putting another quilt on my long arm. Hopefully I won't have the tension issues I had on Bridget's.

Sunday Aug 11, 2013

This past week has been a busy one for me. I have been working on client's quilts pretty steady. I am very happy... but don't have time for much else. I threw my machine out of time by hitting a bulky seam just right and I was unable to get it timed properly. Dave and I spent an entire day working on it. I called Jason about 4:40 on Thursday night. He came had a delivery to make in Santa Clara and said he would be done about three... which he was and he did a wonderful job of getting the machine up and running properly again. I finished the big customer quilt I had on the frame. I did a panto, it turned out good. There was a bit of bulk to deal with though. It worked out fine. The fabric is so busy, you can't see the quilting very well... but I am posting it anyway. The colors just make you happy!

Friday night....Aug 2

Today I got a lot of things accomplished. I finished this small quilt for Linda Williamson. It is cute. I had plan on just doing an over all, but decided to make the cute fabric more important. It went pretty fast and I am happy with the results. I think Linda will be also. I have a couple more to do for her.

I hope to get patterns printed, some of the hummingbirds done to put in the patterns. I have ordered bags which should be here Monday. I need to get the Red Cactus Pattern transferred to the computer I am using. Also need to print some more business cards.

The Yellow Prickly Pear Cactus and Hummingbird wall hanging is my latest pattern. It is currently being sold in Moab at 'It's Sew Moab' (along with the Red Cactus Wall Hanging). The retail price is $15.99. In this pattern I have included the patterns for 3 different hummingbirds. Right now the patterns also contain a hummingbird assembled and ready for you to sew fuse and stitch to your wall hanging. I am not sure how long I will add the finished humming bird. I think they will also be at Scrap Apple Quilts. Shirley has asked me to show them to her. I need to get another sample quilted for the shop.
