Candice's book bag.

I drew the roses, leafs and stems on black fabric and quilted around them with gold thread (Glide).

bags made from My Perfect bag pattern... it really is the perfect bag, especially for traveling.

Sunday

I can't believe it is already the end of August! So much to do and so little time! Right now, other than a bag order for a friend, I don't have any customer work waiting. Hope I pick up something soon. The server won't load photos right now... will post photos of the bags at a later time.....
I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast today. Then got a lot of pruning bushes done. Dave helped me clean up leaves and dirt. The back looks pretty good. I still have some of the oleanders to trim.
Candice wants a book bag made... we need to go to Joann's to look at fabric and I need some more headliner. I have a 60% off coupon (it was in the paper today). I hope the headliner is not on sale.

Family tree

This is a photo taken by Tom Shine's wife. Tom is Rosie's brother. He played the bag pipes for us while we walked through the Shore Gardens and along the cliff. The ocean below the garden above and wonderful friends. We had a great time. Rosie is in the coral colored top, beneath her is Carol (owner of the cottage we stayed in) Clock wise.... Carroll Lee, Dayzee, myself, Tom, Karen, Sue and Janey. I am so blessed to be a part of these wonderful ladies......

I have been in Coos Bay, Oregon (and surrounding areas). I had a great time with 6 of my friends and made 2 new friends in the process. We stayed at a wonderful home in Coos Bay. We went to 4 quilt shops. I really liked a couple of them. We had a great time together, got to know each other better. We ate some wonderful food and painted. There were somethings that happened that just had to be more than  coincidences. This is what happened... The owner of the house told us the first part..........at Halloween a couple of young girls came to her door trick-or-treating. One of the girls said to the other, "I told you this was the house in the painting"..... they apparently had seen a watercolor of the front door of this house in the museum. Carol, the home owner, went to the museum and it was indeed a watercolor of her home. She in turn told her neighbor about the painting. The neighbor purchased it for her for Christmas. The water color is hanging on the wall. We all thought that was so neat and it is a beautiful water color painted by Sherry Howk. I was doing some sketching and watercolor painting in the beautiful park and over heard a lady talking to others about teaching a beginning watercolor class in the fall....She was across the pond from me. When Rosie and Dayzee came to start sketching. I told them about Sherry. When Sherry heard me say 'watercolor' she came over to see what we were doing. Rosie talked to her and found out that she was the painter of the watercolor that hung in Carol's home. Carol invited Sherry to dinner that night, she came and showed us photos of all her work. We had a very pleasant evening. A couple of days later, we were at another park (a series of lakes) and low and behold, there Sherry was. Sue and me stayed and walked with her, she drove us back home (her home was just down the street for Carol's).  She offered to give us an hour lesson at her home. That evening a group of us had a very wonderful lesson at Sherry's home. She gave us some wonderful ideas. One I especially like is a blotter she had made for drying her bushes.......she used a cheep roll of toilet paper, wrapped a good sized length of paper towel (which she folded in 1/3's to make it just the correct size to fit the roll) which she secured to the roll with rubber bands...  this is something I will most diffidently use.
Another really fun thing happened while we were there. Rosie's brother played the bag pipes at the Shore Gardens, located on the coast. We had quite a following...he was kind of like the pied piper. Then his wife took our photos in what they called 'the family tree'. He and his wife made us each copies of the photo!
I have wonderful friends!.........................
Now I need to get busy. I don't have any customer work going right now, but have plenty of my own stuff to do...........Actually I do have a custom bag to sew for a friend and now client.

Sunday evening

Thought I would write a bit while I am waiting for my laundry to dry. I put a load in this morning and totally forgot it was in the washer. It is a load of permanent pressed stuff... so I don't want to let the them set in the dryer all night.
We had a fun time at our long arm group meeting yesterday. We worked on projects. I put a landscape that I started last year at the group, back on and got a bit more done. At the rate I am going.. it will be 15 years before I finish this one! I had a good time.
Dave is working tomorrow, when he gets home from work we are going to go and get me an i-phone. I think Candice is going to up grade too. She is going to be traveling for a friend's wedding and will be gone a week. I am going to be going to Coos Bay with 6 other friends from a fiber arts group I belong to on Friday and will be back the following Friday. It will be fun.
I got more than half way done with Clara Owen's Halloween wall hanging. It is cute.
Hope the laundry dries pretty fast... I am tired!

Friday Aug 3

John fixed my machine long arm yesterday! About 10 min and it was running like a charm. Next time I have and issue with thread breaking..... I will remove the top tension assembly and wipe the felt washers off.... he did that, tweaked the timing and moved the finger a bit (not much)..... the timing was not bad... my stitches were good. It is amazing what a person can do when he knows what is really going on!
I need to get quilting. Then need to get to the bead store, down town St. George, and get some yellow beads.
Wishing everyone a good day!
