Tuesday July 24

Today is very cloudy and over cast here in St. George. I like the sunny hot weather much better. The hot dry are is easier to breath.
Today we will are waiting for the dishwasher repairman. If he comes early we will head to Moab. I hope he does. But... if it's later than 3 we will wait until tomorrow morning. We feel it is kind of rude to go to someone's home late at night, when they have to get up early and work the next day.
I don't feel like doing much though... really feel like going back to bed. I don't like this feeling.
I will clean my sewing room all up. I don't think I will do any more painting nor do any quilting. Maybe, I will go back to sleep.

Monday July 23

Today was a busy day..... got all my laundry done and painted on a landscape quilt. We had planned on going to moab early tomorrow.. but that is not going to happen. The dishwasher died and the service person will be here between 1 and 5. If he comes by 3 we will still be able to come.. if not we will, hopefully, be able to leave Wed early.
I took in another small custom quilt and will  not start it until we get back.... unless we don't leave on Wed.
Candice worked hard .............the house is clean and she cooked us a wonderful dinner.. then did the dishes (no dishwasher).

Next step is quilting..............then thread painting. I will make the bush that goes in the foreground
\on a separate piece of water solvable stabilizer  and then attach it to the finished quilt.... This is one of my landscapes of Robert Lefkow. I have one more to do... don't know if I will paint it all or add fabric to the sky I have painted.... have to decide.
This is the first of the landscapes... I have beading to do on it and then need to finish the binding...... Now..............it's bedtime!

Friday morning July 20

Today is my younger sister's Birthday.. hope Les has a great day. It is cloudy and warm this morning...a slight breeze too.
Candice came in from outside last evening and said there was a orange hummingbird This morning took photos of it. It is really pretty.
I finished all the quilts (except one for Meg and one for Season) that are whole cloths and am going to work on marking board covers and jewelry rolls. The last customer piece was picked up yesterday and she paid me a little more than I asked... That is always nice!
Dave and I are going to Moab next week... I have let a couple people know and will pick up long arm supplies they need from here and bring them to if they would like. Also called Let's Quilt to see if they have any small thing that they need to have delivered.
I guess I  ought to get busy... it's almost 10 and writing this is all I have accomplished. I am kind of tired of hurrying and doing things others want.... it will be good to just set for a while, with no one to please but myself!

This is my own quilt.... gift to the Taylors..... The blocks are from Ju Ju Designs... machine applique'. If you have a machine that will do machine embroidery in the hoop... jujudesigns.com is a great site. Their designs are digitized really well. The quilting is free motion, done on my Innova...

Sunday July 15

We had a lovely evening with friends, Dayzee and Jim. We need to get together more often. I made Navajo Tacos...
Today is nice and sunny. This morning it was wonderful outside. I got the latest customer quilt finished. It is a t-shirt memory quilt. The square spiral panto is perfect for this type of quilt. It is my favorite masculine looking panto-graph.

July 13

July 13th is a sad day for the Gary family. Four years ago today we lost the most wonderful lady in the world. Gladys left a big hole in a lot of people's lives. I am so lucky to have had Glad for a mother-in-law. She was such a strong, beautiful, smart and gracious woman.
I got a lot done around the house today, but did not do any quilting. I cleaned the fridge out.. threw  stuff that was in the freezer that was so old I knew it would be bad.. or I did not know what it was. I got a customer quilt loaded on the machine ready to quilt tomorrow morning.  I cut Dave's hair and did some laundry.
Yesterday I picked Dayzee up and we went to our fiber arts meeting, then stopped at the local bead store, at which I tired to use a credit card that had not been activated.. thought it was the new one I had just got for my business...went to the bank but before I complained realized what I had done. The bank manager is a young man and is very patient with me. We had a really good laugh.  I delivered Patti's quilt to Scrap Apple, started and machine applique' baby quilt and did a lot of cleaning in my studio. I folded fabric and got rid of some of the smaller pieces that I know I will not use. I actually threw stuff that no one would use in the garbage.
Tomorrow I am making Navajo Tacos... Cathie and Jim are coming for dinner. Now... it's bed time. But... think it is another sleeping pill night. I have been taking steroids for a couple days, I am having breathing problems caused by my asthma. The steroids always get me going and keep me going. My lungs feel clearer tonight. So... hopefully I can start to taper off the pills tomorrow. I don't take any more than I have to, but they sure are a god send.

Thursday

Had a good day with friends.... Candice cooked a good dinner and is now cleaning the kitchen up. Doing stuff I need to do... fun stuff like laundry...etc. I need to get a baby quilt put together to take to Moab in a couple weeks. Must get busy. I am going to make some machine applique' sock monkeys from a machine embroidery design pack I purchased on-line from JuJudesigns.com. They are so cute. While my machine is sewing the designs out, I am going to piece another abc panel I have cut apart. Then I will, hopefully, have 2 tops to decide on which one I finish quilting....

Patti's quilt is finished.....

I got Patti's store sample quilt finished. I am happy with it.... I think she will be.

Me and a couple of friends had a fun day today. Cory A. drove Cathie and me to Cedar Breaks National park for the wild flower walk. We stopped at a quilt store in Cedar that is closing. Cathie and I refrained from purchasing.... Cory added to her stash.
We went from 109 degrees here in St. George to 96 in Cedar and 39 at Brian Head! We got hailed on big time. In fact, so much hail Cory had to pull over. Cory was prepared with a jacket... neither Cathie nor I had jacket. We purchased sweat shirts.... in about 30 minutes it was to hot for the sweatshirts. Now we both have nice, matching sweatshirts...lol.
I have had bad allergies...going to have to get more medication tomorrow.
I have a couple more customer quilts to get done.... Need to get borders sewn on one of my own and get a baby quilt pieced together....
It is really windy right now. I sure hope we get some rain... not just wind.
